Mr. John Zrybko, 92, of Elberton, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at his home.

John was born in Garfield New Jersey April 10, 1929. Both of his parents emigrated from Eastern Europe. He had three sisters, Helen Obuchowski, Marge Haladyna, and Sally Burden who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his daughter Barbara and his oldest son Raymond. His son David resides in Pennsylvania with his wife Jeanne. They have a grown daughter, Amelia.

John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a successful businessman and a Vice President at Compton Advertising in New York City. In his spare time he was involved in scouting with his sons. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and boater.

Over the past twenty four years he and Jeanne Boyle have shared a wonderful life. They loved being aboard takin' it E-Z on the Hudson River, the Atlantic Ocean, and Barnegat Bay. Soon after moving to South Carolina ten years ago, the couple discovered Lake Richard B. Russell. They promptly built a log home and bought a pontoon boat. When John became ill, they realized their friends and the lake house made Georgia home and moved here permanently.

John is survived by Jeanne his son David and his family, nieces and nephews. He also has a loving extended family of a niece, nephew, great niece and nephew, and a great-great nephew and his four sisters. His family has increased through life's journey to include friends for whom he and Jeanne feel blessed. These dear friends were with John throughout his last days, keeping his spirits high and a smile on his face.They supported both John and Jeanne, giving much love, prayer and support to the both of them.

A Celebration of John's life will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.
