Mr. John David "Johnny" Starrett, Sr., 66, of Hart Terrace, Hartwell, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia.

Born on January 10, 1954 in Elberton GA, he was the son of the late Hugh Thomas Starrett and Arlean Shaw Starrett.Mr. Starrett was retired from the Tenneco Automotive plant and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Starrett loved coaching youth football and baseball. He was also a member of the Hartwell Golf Club and an avid Hart Co. Bulldog and Georgia Bulldog fan.

Survivors include his son: John David Starrett, Jr. (René); daughter: Tonya Starrett Teel (Jaye); brother: Dennis Starrett; four grandchildren: Kaitlyn Sanders, Noah Sanders, Jackson Starrett, and Tinsley Starrett; two step-grandchildren: Madison Teel and Dylan Teel; and one niece: Jantzen Starrett Carter.

Because of the current conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be having a formal visitation.They ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.

Johnny will lie in state at the Strickland Funeral of Hartwell from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday for anyone to come by and pay their respects.Also anyone can leave their condolences and best wishes on Johnny's tribute page.

The family will be at the home of Tonya & Jaye Teel, 14 Daisy Lane, Royston, GA 30662, during this time.

Graveside services for Mr. Johnny Starrett will be held Monday, July 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Everyone will be asked to practice Social Distancing and may want to bring a lawn chair.
