Rev. Johnny David Stowe, 76, of Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born on August 13, 1947 in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late Ether Edward "Doc" Stowe and Leottice Hunter Stowe. Rev. Stowe was a retired Church of God minister, and he began his pastoral career as an assistant pastor at the Canon Church of God, then was the Senior Pastor for the Price Chapel Church of God for 23 years. Prior to being a minister, he was formerly employed at Monroe/Tenneco as a machinist. Rev. Stowe deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and his church family.

Survivors include his wife: Flora Fleeman Stowe of Lavonia; two sons: Tracy Stowe (Tammy) of Bowersville and Terry Stowe (Cindy) of Dewy Rose; two brothers: Jimmy Norton of Vanna, GA, and Rocky Stowe of Hartwell; two sisters: Debra Rider of Umatilla, FL, and Peggy Stowe of Dewy Rose; five grandchildren: Amy Evans (Jared), Brett Keesling (Meredith), Jennifer Stowe, Brittney Morris (Zach), Brandon Stowe; and seven great-grandchildren. Rev. Stowe is preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers: Larry, Jackie & Paul Edward Stowe, and Weldon, Donnie, Ricky & Richard Norton.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Rev. Stowe will lie in state at the Price Chapel Church of God on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Rev. Johnny Stowe will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Price Chapel Church of God with Rev. Tony Franks and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.  Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman.

The family request that all area ministers serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Price Chapel Church of God, 687 Providence Church Rd, Lavonia, GA 30553.
