Mr. Jones M. Franks, age 81, of 2284 Pleasant Hill Circle – Martin, died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Toccoa Nursing Center.
Born August 20, 1925, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Jones Moody Franks and the late Ollie Smith Franks. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a veteran of the Army Air Force. Mr. Franks was an insurance agent and founder of Franks Insurance Company. He served Franklin County's insurance needs for more than 40 years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother: Bud Franks, a sister: Buris Crowell, and a granddaughter: Stacy Franks.
Survivors include wife: Wendy Franks, daughter: Cheryl Thompson of Easley, SC; sons: Barry Franks of Colbert, GA and Keith Franks of Leesville, SC; sisters: Bremer Jolly of Lavonia, Eva Nell Moon of Martin, Rosellen Ray of Wetumpka, AL, and Terry Patat of Dalton; Eight Grandchildren; and Six Great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1333 Pleasant Hill Road – Lavonia, GA 30553.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
