Mr. Joseph Francis Ellis, age 85, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at his home following an extended illness.
Born July 23, 1930, in Sharpsburg, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Omar and Lyda Frances (Hawkins) Ellis. He was a retired home builder. Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the United States Air Force and attended Victory Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Constante Ellis; and son David Ellis.
He is survived by his wife: Nell (Parris) Ellis; sons: Rev. Richard Ellis and Gary Ellis; brothers: George Ellis, Owen Ellis, and Robin Ellis; sister: Vergie Epperson; grandchildren: Bryan Ellis, Michael Ellis, Jonathan Ellis, and Jessica Ellis; and Twelve great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.Burial with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at Fairview Memorial Gardens, in Stockbridge, with Rev. Richard Ellis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
