Mr. Joseph Ancel Floyd, age 83, of Lavonia, died Friday, November 16, 2018 peacefully at his home surrounded by family.
He was born August 8, 1935, in Franklin County where he has lived his entire life. He was the son of the late O.Z. and Annie Belle (Pitts) Floyd. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He also retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after 46 years of service.Mr. Floyd was an avid farmer and tireless-worker, a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, along with being awarded a Master Mason and a member of the Lavonia Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; including Aaron Floyd, Barbara McMahon, Joan Sims, Wesley Floyd, Shelton Floyd, Brenda Brawner, and Tony Floyd. He was survived by siblings, Maurice Floyd and Anita Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Joyce (Hicks) Floyd; son and daughter-in-law, Darin & Gail Floyd of Aiken, S.C.; Dwayne & Suzie Floyd of Lavonia; grandchildren, Austin, Megan, and Hannah Grace Floyd, Matthew, Rebecca, and the late Andrew House.
The family will receive friends at Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Charles Holland and Bruce McGee officiating. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
