Mr. Joseph Matthew Mariacher, Jr., age 88, of 972 Walters Road, Lavonia, died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Hart County Hospital.
Born January 22, 1919, in Mercer County, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph M. Mariacher, Sr. and Clara Zimmerman Mariacher. He was a retired coal miner and steel worker and was also engaged in farming. He was a veteran of the US Navy and of the Catholic faith.
He was predeceased by his parents and a son David Lee Mariacher
Survivors include his wife: Laura Mezzara Mariacher; daughters: Bonnie Soop of Lavonia and Sandra Mariacher of Warner Robbins; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
