Mrs. Mary Josephine (Floyd) Moncrief, age 95, of Lavonia, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born September 30, 1916, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Essie (Haney) Floyd. She retired from Stone Manufacturing as a seamstress. Mrs. Moncrief was a member of Lavonia Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Deuel "D.L." Moncrief; daughter: Vivian M. Evans; brothers: Herbert Floyd, T.C. Floyd, Armenius Floyd, Euford Floyd, and Terrell Floyd; and sisters: Bonnie Green, Ada Smith, Ruth Clark, and Edna Oliver.
She is survived by her daughters: Bernice Akin and husband Charles of Martin and Kathryn Certain and husband David of Lavonia; sons: Rev. Wayne Moncrief and wife Miriam of Maysville, Tony Moncrief and wife Margaret of Lavonia, Michael Moncrief of Gainesville, and Philip Moncrief and wife Sheila of Bowersville; thirteen grandchildren; and thirty-three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Lavonia Church of God with Rev. Tyrone Hutchinson and Rev. Theo Arnett officiating. A private burial service will be held Monday at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
