Mrs. Josephine Harris Vaughn, age 78, of 13075 Jones St. – Lavonia, died Friday, January 12, 2007 at Hart Care Center.
Born in Lavonia, she was the daughter of the late J. D. and Dollie Mae Harris. She was a member of Lavonia United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Lavonia Manufacturing Co. with 40 years of service. She was an avid golfer for over 20 years at Hartwell Golf Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister: Janet H. Hamby; and brothers: J. C. Harris and Robert Harris.
Survivors include her husband: Joe F. Vaughn; daughter: Joyce V. Roberts; two grandsons: Joey and Allen Roberts; granddaughter: Leanne Roberts; great-grandchildren: Taylor, Macy, Riley, and Alex Roberts; Brother: David Harris; five sisters: Alice Mullinex, Ruth Thomas, Mildred Lacy, Dot Vaughn, and Elene Crider.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home – Lavonia Chapel on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14, at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Tom McElroy and Mr. Mike Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Richard Bielski officiating.
