Joy Ann "Mama Joy" Holmes, age 60, of Martin, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at her home.
Born May 2, 1958, in Fort Meade, Maryland, she was the daughter of Paul Holmes and the late Mary Ann (Haley) Holmes. Prior to disability, she worked at Beaulieu of America. She was of the Methodist faith. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Coy and Julia Haley.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her children: Joey Fowler, Brandie Quiroz & husband Jorge, and Julia Holmes; sister: Paula Gibby; brother and sister-in-law: Marty and Diane Holmes; grandchildren: Joey Ivan Fowler, Frankie Dimas, Angel Dimas, and Gavin Hightower; good friend: Jennifer Spencer; and several nieces, and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Pat Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the service. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the funeral home to defray funeral expenses.
