Obituary
Mrs. Joyce G. Bird, 76, of 514 Eagle Heights Rd, Canon GA, died peacefully Saturday, May 16 at her home.
Born on January 8, 1933 in Enterprise OR, she was the daughter of Kenneth Showers and Dorothy Henderson Showers.She married Geary F. Bird in 1951.She graduated from Joseph High School in 1952.She and her husband owned and operated businesses in Enterprise and Klamath Falls Oregon.She attended Concordia University, Portland Oregon, 1966-1967, McComb Community College in 1969 and graduated from Sangamon State, Springfield IL in 1971.She earned the designation of Master Gardener from the University of Georgia in 1996.
Survivors include her husband, Geary; three sons, Dennis of Milford OH, Chris of Edmond OK and Michael of Sidney NE; a daughter, Karen Carney of Rocky Mount NC and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Toccoa GA.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joyce Bird Memorial Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 1154, Toccoa, GA30577
