Mrs. Joyce Stovall Lanier, 74, of 40 Cayuga Street, Hartwell, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born on September 24, 1936 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Tannie Stovall and Dollie Idell Burdette Stovall. She was an employee of Springs Industries where she worked as a warper tender for 52 years and was also of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two sisters: Barbara Carter and her husband, Donald, of Lavonia, and Carol Weldon of Hartwell; one faithful friend: Ruth Hill of Hartwell; and one niece and several nephews. Mrs. Lanier was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Melvin Lanier; three brothers: Arthur Stovall, James Stovall, Hayward Stovall; and one sister: Elizabeth "Lib" Stovall.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Rafala and Rev. Terry Addis officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday night.The family is at the home of Barbara and Donald Carter.
