Mrs. Joyce Ann (Herbert) Loehr, age 70, of Lavonia, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospice House.
Born May 13, 1942, in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late George and Aline (Biller) Herbert. She retired from AT&T as a project manager. She was a member of the Lavonia United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Women's Bible Study, Mrs. Loehr was a member of the Lavonia Garden Club and was a supporter of the Land of Spirit Folk Life Play and the Lavonia Community Garden. She was also the Queen of the local Royal Red Hat Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter: Julia Oehrle, and brother: George Robert Herbert.
She is survived by her husband: Clay Loehr of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Scott & Fay Oehrle of Jensen Beach, FL, Stephen & Coleen Oehrle of Franklin, IN, Stuart & Carol Oehrle of Cold Spring, KY, and Bob & Libby Loehr of Canton, GA; sister: Emily Lewis of Boulder, CO; and grandchildren: Brett, Chad, Morgan, Danielle, Surekha, Melissa, and Luke Oehrle and George Loehr.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Lavonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Randall Massengill officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery. The Lavonia United Methodist Men will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. At other hours the family will be at the home.
