Mrs. Joyce McClure Smith, 80, of Paynes Creek Road, Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia.

Joyce, a native of Hayesville, NC, was the daughter of the late George Howard and Sue Byers McClure.Although she retired after a career with Sears, her life's utmost devotion and passion was her family.

On March 11, 1959, she married her sweetheart, T.V. Smith, a soldier in the US Army. They had three children that they raised in Decatur, GA.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sue McClure, and brothers, Hal and Howard McClure. She is survived by her husband, T.V. Smith; daughter, Anita Fenley and husband, David; son, TV Smith; daughter, Vonda Smith; brother, Harold McClure; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Webb and Rev. David Fenley officiating.Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Saturday morning prior to the service.The family is at the home.
