Mrs. Nell Juanita (Head) Alewine, age 74, of Commerce, formerly of Lavonia, died Sunday January 11, 2009 at Alzheimer's Care of Commerce.
Born January 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Clinton & Zephyr (Stovall) Head. She was a loving homemaker and a member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Rudolph Head & Alvin Head; and sister: Helen (Head) Cisson.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years: Max Alewine of Commerce; son and daughter-in-law: Gregory & Michele Alewine of Buford; granddaughter and grandson-in-law: Jessica & Jeremy Gordy; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jean & Johnny Webb of Blue Ridge & Joyce & James Moore of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Revs. Bill Manus & Jason DeFoor officiating. Entombment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa. The staff of Alzheimer's Care of Commerce are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd. Atlanta, GA 30345.
