IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julia Walters
Rhino
September 18, 1932 – August 4, 2023
Julia Ann Walters Rhino died on August 4th, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on September 18th, 1932 in Moultrie, GA and was the youngest daughter of the late Traul (T.G) and Lois Woodward Walters. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Chappell Victor Rhino and sisters Fran Walters and Mary Kimmerle Clayton.
Julia grew up in Atlanta, where she attended East Lake Grammar School. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1950, where she served as editor of the yearbook and a varsity cheerleader. Upon graduation, she attended Furman University and the University of GA. She met her husband Chappell while he was playing football at GA Tech. On December 21st, 1952 they married and had their honeymoon in New Orleans at the 1953 Sugar Bowl.
As a devoted wife and mother, her family was her priority. These years brought great joy. After raising her children in Charlotte and Atlanta, Chappell and Julia retired to the Walters family farm in Lavonia, GA. Between playing golf at the Hartwell Golf Club, entertaining her friends and traveling around on trips, she loved their life here in the country. Julia taught children Sunday School and an adult seeker class at church, which she loved. She was a member of Lavonia Women's Club, Hartwell Golf Association and Community Bible Study.
Those left to cherish her memories are her five children and spouses: Randy (Missy) Rhino, Danny (Rhonda) Rhino, Vicky (Bobby) Ryder, Tim (Julie) Rhino and David (Karen) Rhino; Her nine grandchildren: Randy Jr (Sarah) Rhino, Mikal (Alyson) Rhino, Kelley (Laura) Rhino, Caty (Patrick) McCoy, Michelle (Everett) Anderson, Brian (Courtney) Rhino, Lindsey Rhino, Reagan Rhino, and Ryan Ryder; And fifteen great-grandchildren: Austin, Catherine and Morgan Rhino, Dallas, Bode, Stella and Rabun Rhino, Gabriel, Phoebe and Graham Rhino, Jack and Charlie McCoy, Luke and Reese Rhino, and Charlie Anderson.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to her caregivers, Rhonda Johnson, Zoe Boling, Kay Canady, Tammie Massey, and Karen Allen, AMEDISYS hospice nurses and her favorite hospice nurse, Cliff Whitworth.
God blessed her with the greatest riches a woman could ask for: a beautiful family and a faithful, loving husband. Her faith in Jesus Christ has sustained her, especially in her Golden Years.
