Mrs. Julia Jordan "Judy" Wilson, 90, of Walnut Street, Hartwell, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Brookside Assisted Living Center, Hartwell.
Born on October 22, 1924 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Jordan and Nettie Norris Jordan.Mrs. Wilson was a retired Para Professional for the Hart County School System, a Homemaker and a Pastors' Wife.Mrs. Wilson was a former South Carolina Baptist Association WMU State Director.She was also an active member of the Sardis Baptist Church, where her husband, Dr. C. Raymond Wilson formerly pastored. At Sardis, she was member of the Fidelis SS Class and former Sunday School teacher, former WMU director and had served on various church committees.
Survivors include her son: Phil Wilson and his wife Diane; her daughter: Carolyn Cowart and her husband Lloyd "Boomer" all of Hartwell; four grandchildren: April McCurley and her husband Mark, Robin Baker and her husband Keith, Bob Skelton and his wife Heather and Julie Nix and her husband Tim and ten great-grandchildren.Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Rev. Dr. C. Raymond Wilson and two brothers: Major H. Jordan and Carter H. Jordan.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. John Silver and Dr. Dan Vincent officiating.Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening.The family is at the home of Carolyn and "Boomer" Cowart, 364 Sunnybrook Lane, Hartwell.Flowers appreciated, memorials may be made to the Sardis Baptist Church Capital Fund, 4359 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell GA 30643.
