Mrs. June Channell Cabe, age 82, of Bowman Street, Lavonia, widow of Larry W. Cabe, died Tuesday, April 22, at Hart Care Center following a long illness.
Born June 7, 1925, in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Horace Hampton "Bud" Channell and Damy Lea Ingram Channell. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Cobb Memorial Pink Ladies Auxiliary, and the Lavonia Garden Club. She was a Worthy Matron of the Lavonia Chapter #377 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Cabe also served as president of the Lavonia Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy from 1971 – 1972. She was a member of the Lavonia United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Cabe was a homemaker.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law: W. Chan & Lou Cabe of Carnesville; sister: Rebecca Byce of Martinez; brother: J. H. Channell of Conyers; and six grandchildren: Carrie Cabe, Christie Cabe, Cathie Cabe, Alex Cabe, Will Cabe and Josh Cabe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years: Larry Walton Cabe; and son: Walton L. Cabe.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Elder Dolph Painter and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will be at the home of Chan & Lou Cabe, 721 Sosby Road, Carnesville, and will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hart Care Center, Resident Memorial Care Fund, P.O.
