Mr. Dock Wade "Junior" Bannister, Jr. 83, of Elberton Hwy, Hartwell, GAdied Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born on March 5, 1930, Hartwell, GA., he was the son of the late Dock Wade Bannister, Sr. and Mollie Crump Bannister.He was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church and attended the Abundant Life Baptist Church.He was retired owner and operated of the Bannister Skating Rink and managed the Liberty Hill/Sardis Hart County Recycle Center.He was aUS Army Korean War Veteran.

Survivors include his wife Sara Payne Bannister,two daughters, Lynne B. Skelton and husband Larry of Hartwell and Suzette Bannister of Atlanta; four grandchildren Brad Skelton and wife Jessica, Clare S. Clifton and husband Rusty, Morgan Booker and Oliver Booker, four great grandchildren Lucus Skelton, Russell Clifton, Sarah Paige Clifton, and Charlie Clifton; one brother Grady Bannister of Hartwell.Mr. Bannister was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Harold, Theron, Garrett and Schaffer Bannister and three sister Frances Weaver, Ruth Bannister and Louise Bannister.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Ken Brewer officiating.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Tuesday, March 3, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 prior to the service.The family are at the home.Special memorials can be made to the Abundant Life Church, P.O.
