Karl A. Varnes, age 65, of Lavonia, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at AnMed Health in Anderson, South Carolina. Born on December 30, 1959, in Long Beach, California, Karl was the beloved son of the late Robert Lee Varnes and Marcella Faye Day Floyd.

Karl dedicated more than twenty-one years of his life working as a supervisor at Modular Container in Lavonia before retirement. He was widely known for his remarkable sense of humor and his captivating storytelling abilities. An avid enthusiast of old cars and leatherworking, Karl found immense joy in these hobbies. His commitment to his community and his faith was evident through his involvement with the Good News Club at Central Franklin Elementary School. His life transformation was a testament to his faith, and he was a faithful member of Community Harvest Church in Carnesville.

In addition to his parents, Karl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry Jeffares Varnes, and his brother, Danny Varnes. He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his memory: his daughter & son in-law, Elaine & Kevin White; son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Samantha Varnes; grandchildren, Landon Alewine, Brandon Alewine, MaryBeth White, Wyatt Varnes, EmmaKate White, Kace White, and Colton Alewine; brother, Randy Varnes (Liane); sisters, Karen Hall (Brian) and Tammy Lampp; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate Karl's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia, with Rev. Tim Bennett and Rev. Jason Webb officiating. Following the service, Karl will be laid to rest in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
