Mrs. Kathryn Carter Pickren, age 90, of Martin died Friday, June 3, 2016 at Pruitt Health of Toccoa.
Born December 25, 1925, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Carlene (Davis) Carter. She retired from Franklin County Schools as a secretary. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Lydian Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Alva H. Pickren, Jr.; daughter: Pamela P. Bartlett; and brothers: Davis Carter and James Ray Carter.
She is survived by her daughter: Carole Pierce; sons: Colin Pickren and Mark Pickren; sister: Wynell Cobb; brother: Talmadge Carter; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Harvill officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens with Mr. Mark Pickren officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Ben Bartlett, Will Bartlett, Dustin Taylor, Stephen Pickren, Paul Pickren, and Larry Koch.
