Mrs. Katie Marie Yoder Miller, 96, of Bowersville, was called to her heavenly home on September 8, 2026, at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, SC, after a brief illness.
Born on July 12, 1930, in Nappanee, IN, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia Schmucher Yoder. She was married to Olen M. Miller on November 4, 1948, who was her loving companion for 71 years and preceded her in death on April 11, 2020.
She is survived by one son: Larry Miller (JoAnn) of Bowersville, GA; two daughters: Linda Webb (Bob) of Etowah, NC, and Deborah Miller of Sarasota, FL; a son-in-law: Larry Forry of Sarasota, FL; one sister: Etta Ferne Miller Gingerich (Dan) of Belle Center, OH; two brothers: Raymond Yoder (Janice) of Goshen, IN, and Everett Yoder (Polly Anna) of Rushsylvania, OH; one sister-in-law: Kathryn Yoder of Nappanee, IN; seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Miller is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter: Rhoda Forry of Sarasota, FL; two sisters: Fannie Mae Zehr (David) of Goshen, IN, and Clara Elizabeth Yoder (Glen) of Loogootee, IN; and two brothers: Ernest Yoder (Elizabeth) and Earl Lee Yoder, all of Nappanee, IN.
Katie was a homemaker and a faithful pastor’s wife for many years. She enjoyed her family, loved to serve others, and loved Jesus. She was a friend to many people. One of her favorite things was to play games with family & friends, which she did up to the very end. She was also a member of the Hartwell Mennonite Church.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to those who have been there to give their help and support during this time, as well as the faithful prayer warriors.
There will be a viewing at the Hartwell Mennonite Church on Friday September, 11, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
The family will also have a viewing from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026 before her Celebration of Life service at the North Georgia Mennonite Church, Bowersville GA, which will start at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Hartwell Mennonite Church Cemetery following the service.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is assisting the family with all of the arrangements.
