Kelsy Martin, age 21 was granted her angel wings March, 23, 2017 following a life of special needs.Her final hours were spent surrounded by those who loved her most. Kelsy leaves behind her loving "Granya & Popper" Gwen and James Pickens who cared for her and her sister, Kailey, for the last 17 years.Other surviving grandparents are Bo and Joan Martin of Watkinsville, Danny Elrod of Lavonia and Great Grandmother, Ann Marcengill (Meme) also of Lavonia.She is survived by her two sisters, Kailey Makale Martin and Skyler Lee Brown of the home.In addition to her Granya and Popper, Kelsy leaves behind other caretakers that include her Aunts, Tina Elrod Jones, Brooke Elrod, Brittni Pickens and numerous members of the extended family.She will be missed by her adoring cousins Emma, Ella, Cadence, Zack, Max, & Bryson.Our baby girl was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Rev. Albert Marcengill, Max and Rosalee Elrod, Arthur and Delpha Martin, Melton Pickens and Dorothy Burden.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Lavonia, with Rev. John Forbes and Rev. David Crisp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home.
