Obituary

Rev. Kenneth Paul Deitle, 85, of Lavonia, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, April 2, 2017, surrounded by his family following an extended illness.
Born December 25, 1931, in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late James and Lula (Brant) Deitle. He was a retired Methodist minister with more than 60 years of service to the United Methodist Church, where he served as an Elder. During that time he pastored many churches in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. He traveled the world in ministry and was a Fellow at the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies. He was a former Minister of the Year in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church and former president of the Senoia Lions Club. Rev. Deitle was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Peggy (Dilworth) Deitle; daughters: Joy Faith Deitle, Gay L. Dowdy, and Kim Jordan and her husband Scott; son: Jeremy Deitle; grandchildren: Lila Dowdy, Bethany Jordan, and Kevin Jordan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister: Helen Deitle; and brothers: Robert Deitle, Glynn Deitle, Roy Deitle, Ray Deitle, and Jimmy Deitle.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Gary Whetstone, Rev. Doug Brown, Rev. Ralph Devereaux, and Rev. David Bryan officiating.Burial will follow in Allens United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours, the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to defray expenses or to International Leadership Institute, P.O. Box 1005, Carrollton, GA 30112 to support missionaries Wes and Joy Griffin, who Rev. Deitle led to the Lord and are now serving the Lord by spreading the Gospel abroad.
