Walter Kenneth Hulsey, age 80, of Lavonia, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 at Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca, SC.

He was born September 25, 1942, in Stephens County, son of the late Joe and Bonnie White Hulsey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years: Dr. Judy Harris Hulsey; siblings: Billy (Clara) Hulsey, Jane Hulsey Forester, Max Hulsey, and Marlene Hulsey Bryant; sister-in-law: Betty Harris Morris; brother-in-law: Bo Morris; nephew: Billy Hulsey, Jr.; and lifelong-friend: Johnny Humphrey.

Mr. Hulsey was a 1962 graduate of Lavonia High School and a veteran of the Georgia National Guard. He retired as the foreman of the milling department of Franklin Industries, where he worked as a machinist for more than twenty-five years. He was a member of the Lavonia First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by siblings: Betty Jo Hulsey (Joel) Ginn, Mary "Doodle" Hulsey Payne, and Martha Hulsey Maxwell Carithers; brother-in-law: David Bryant; nephews: James (Marjory) Morris, Brian Morris, Stephen Maxwell, Thomas Maxwell, Jeffrey Ginn, Brian Ginn, Kevin Ginn Michael Ginn, Barry Bryant, Marty Bryant, Kendall Payne, Scott Hulsey, and Gary Hulsey; nieces: Janet Clayton, Susan Kesler, Christi Sanders, and Patti Haley; many grand nieces and nephews; lifelong friends: Sue Humphrey and David Roberts; and many other family members and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Dr. Hugh Hendrickson and Rev. Gary Hulsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City – Burges Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lavonia First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 176, Lavonia, GA 30553.
