Mr. Howard Kenneth York, 67, of 250 Harbor Heights, Lavonia, GA, died Friday, August 29, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospice House, Bogart, GA.

Born January 29, 1941 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late Marlor Lee "ML" York and Onie Cleveland York.He was retired from ASCS Office in Athens; He was a Farmer and Co-Owner of York & Sons Hauling and Grading.He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church; former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher; Member of Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690 and honorary member of Bowersville Masonic Lodge #595.

He is survived by:Wife, Dot Dyar York; Sons, Alan York and his wife Ann of Lewisville, GA, Alvin York and his wife Tina of Hartwell, GA and Grant York and Pam Wood of Bowersville, GA; Daughters, Allison Y. Temple and her husband Ike of Canon, GA and Elizabeth Y. Rice and her husband Jeremy of Royston, GA; Twelve grandchildren, Kayla York, Briana York, Chayse York, Haley Temple, Hilary Temple, Pressley York, Seth York, Claire Rice, Chloe Rice, Delana Rice, Mary Ann McNeely and Julie Bailey.He is preceded in death by parents and a brother, L.M. York.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Jerry Durham and Dr. Donald Little will officiate.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.The family is at the home of Grant York, 408 Flat Shoal Road, Bowersville, GA.
