Mr. Alvin Lanier Lunceford, 77, of Dewy Rose, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta.
Born on June 8, 1938 in Washington GA, he was the son of the late Luther Sanders Lunceford and Ethel Justine Dickins Lunceford.Mr. Lunceford was a self-employed brick mason and a member of the Hartwell Church of God.He was also a member of the Faith Home in Greenwood, SC and AA.
Survivors include his wife: Nina Sue Dickerson Lunceford; one son: Jeff Lunceford of Adel, GA; four step-sons: Mike Sanders of Bowman, Ricky Sanders of Royston, Farron Cox of Dewy Rose, Johnny Price of Starr, SC; four step-daughters: Melissa S. Spires of Hartwell, Donna McCurley of Elberton, Tammy Lovell of Bowman, Crystal Harrison of Dewy Rose; two brothers: Bob Lunceford of Hartwell, Gene Lunceford of Elberton; one sister: Pat Cobo of Newnan, GA; thirty one grandchildren and thirty six great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Lunceford was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Imogene "Jean" Vaughn Lunceford; three step-sons: Randy Sanders, Scott Sanders and Terry Sanders; a step-daughter: Deborah Dove; four brothers: Mell Lunceford, Edward Lunceford, Bonnie Lunceford and Henry Lunceford; and one grandson: Steven Sanders.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 23, 2016, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Lonnie Bennett and Rev. Randy Outz officiating.Burial will be in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening.The family is at the home of Randy and Melissa Spires, 2258 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA.
