Mr. W. Lanier Shaw, 65, of Center of the World Road, Canon, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Born on February 19, 1956 in Elberton GA, he was the son of Bobby Shaw and the late Patricia Rice Shaw. Mr. Shaw was a retired assistant manager of Instrument Design & Fabrication Shop at UGA and a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father: Bobby Shaw; his wife: Joy Johnson Shaw; two sons: Justin Shaw (Katie) of Hartwell, Grant Shaw (Jenny) of Buford; eight grandchildren: Haley Shaw, Karleigh Shaw, Mallory Shaw, Gavin Shaw, Emilee Shaw, Avery Shaw, Braeden Shaw, Jeremey Bryan; one great grandchild: Ethan Shaw; and brother-in-law Dan Yeargin . Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his mother: Patricia Shaw; sister: Pam S. Yeargin and one grandson: Rylie Shaw.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. The family will be at the home.

A memorial service celebrating Lanier's life will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Kendall Hicks and Rev. Lewis Fortner officiating.
