Mr. Marvin Larry Hale, 83, of Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 at his home.
Born on November 4, 1939 in Tishomingo, MS, he was the son of the late Marvin William Hale and Mary Odom Hale. Mr. Hale was a self-employed custom home builder and general contractor for over 50 years, and was a member of the Homebuilders Association. Mr. Hale was of the Baptist faith, and was a former deacon. He was also a veteran of the US Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Peggy Herring Hale of Hartwell; two daughters: Dr. Laurie Birchfield (Charlie) of Seneca, SC, and Robin Johnson (Tracy) of Hartwell; one sister: Sarah Givens (Eddie) of Mobile, AL; three grandchildren: Haleigh Haney (Jonathan), Ryan O'Barr (Nikki), and Brandon Lewis; and two great-grandchildren: Weston and Riverlee O'Barr. Mr. Hale is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Ruth Moore and Barbara Kohn.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services for Mr. Larry Hale will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Revs. Jeremy Beauford and Mike Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with military honors.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
