Larry Wesley Murphy, 57, beloved husband of Elizabeth Maxwell Murphy, passed peacefully from this world on September 4, 2019 surrounded in the love and care of his family.
Born November 28, 1961 in Royston GA, he was the son and eldest child of Hugh and Frances Payne Murphy.He worked as a Conservation Technician for the United States Dept of Agriculture, and fourth generation farmer on a Centennial Farm.He was also a member of the Franklin County Young Farmers.He was a lifetime, mission-minded member of Liberty Baptist Church of Carnesville and served there as Sunday School Superintendent for 17 years, as well as Deacon.Through his marriage in 2002, he gained an additional church family with Lavonia First Baptist Church, where the couple also continued to serve and worship.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Murphy, parents Hugh & Frances Murphy, brother: Jeff Murphy, sister & brother-in-law Jill & Kent Hall, nieces Kalie Blevins & & Seth and Cassie Hall, and his treasured dog, Zoe.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Carnesville, with Dr. Larry Finger, Rev. Alan Cole, Rev. David Souders, and Rev. Todd West officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Liberty Baptist Church Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made, in Larry's memory, to Liberty Baptist Church, 6077 GA Hwy 145, Carnesville, GA 30521. These donations will be used to support missionaries and church planting.
