Larry Philpot

Larry Dean Philpot, age 78, of Lavonia, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, at his home.

Born April 6, 1948, in Pineville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Conley Philpot and Lucy Mae Crank Philpot. Larry worked as a transport driver for Rocky Ridge and retired from the City of Lavonia Street Department, where he served for many years. He was of the Christian faith.

Larry was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching his grandson play sports. More than anything, he loved his family and treasured the time he was able to spend with them.

He is survived by his son, C.J. Philpot; brother, Robert Philpot; sisters, Teresa Philpot, Diane Ward, Barbara Ebbers, and Linda Ferrell; and grandchildren, Tayllor Philpot, McKinze Philpot, and Herschal Philpot.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Jean Deaver Philpot, who passed away on August 4, 2026; and brothers, David Philpot and Rick Philpot.

There will be a private burial, next to his wife, at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to defray funeral expenses.
