Mrs. Launa Roper Martin, age 94, of 94 Cade Street, Hartwell died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Hartwell Health Care Center.

Born March 5, 1913, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Jay Sanford Roper and the late Ida Catherine Risner Roper. She graduated from Hartwell High School in 1933. She was a homemaker and a member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband: Hugh Martin; three sisters: Cora Roper Stowers, Dora Roper Martin, and Curtis Roper Bobo; a brother: Rainey Roper; and a grandson: Darin Ray Martin.

Survivors include daughters: Jan Martin Wilson of Suwanee and Shirley Martin Ayers of Raleigh, NC; sons: William Hugh Martin of Tampa, FL, Sanford Ray Martin of Hartwell, Keith Duane Martin of Anderson, SC, Ronny Juan Martin of Marietta, and Jimmy Randal Martin of Sugar Hill; fifteen grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2007 at the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The family is at the home of Sanford and Ruth Martin, 194 Spencer Lane, Hartwell, GA and will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
