Laura Sorrells Hill

Mrs. Laura Magill Sorrells Hill, 75, of Watkinsville GA, formerly of Hartwell passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Born on September 25, 1950 in Anderson SC, she was the daughter of the late Marion Sorrells and Margaret Seay Sorrells. She received her nursing degree from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing and retired 44 years later as an R.N. from Athens Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens.

A true Georgia Bulldog, she loyally called the Dawgs from a very young age. She was an exquisite baker, and loved her family, shopping and her two labradoodles. She served on the board of the Athens Cancer Society Auxiliary and volunteered at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Survivors include her husband: Donald Ray Hill of Watkinsville GA; two daughters: Melissa Anne Hill and Rebecca Suzanne Hill both of Savannah GA. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her brother: Joe Sorrells.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Laura Hill will be Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Athens with Rev. Whitney Booth Lockard officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
