Laura Sorrells Hill

Mrs. Laura Magill Sorrells Hill, 75, of Watkinsville GA, formerly of Hartwell passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Born on September 25, 1950 in Anderson SC, she was the daughter of the late Marion Sorrells and Margaret Seawright Sorrells. She received her nursing degree from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing and retired from Athens Regional Hospital. She was a member of the American Cancer Society Auxiliary and volunteered for the Auxiliary for Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens.

Survivors include her husband: Donald Ray Hill of Watkinsville GA; two daughters: Melissa Anne Hill and Rebecca Suzanne Hill both of Savannah GA. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her brother: Joe Sorrells.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Laura Hill will be held Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Athens, 185 East Hancock Ave., Athens GA, with Rev. Whitney Booth Lockard officiating. There will be a reception to follow after the service.
