Obituary
Mrs. Laura Looney Payne, 98, of 3732 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell, Ga., died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Brown Memorial Convalescent Canter.
Born December 2, 1911 in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late W. Bryte Looney and Lou Denney Looney. She was a homemaker and member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors include; son, Doug Payne and his wife Betsy of Albany GA; a daughter, Dolores P. Massie and her husband, Bland of Fort Valley GA; a brother, Wilton Looney of Atlanta GA; four grandchildren, Bland Massie, Jr., Michael Massie, David Payne and Jason Payne; eight great-grandchildren, Laura, Heather, Robby, Tripp, Belle, Christin, Josh and Jay and a great great-grandchild, Heather.She was preceded in death her husband, Ervin Payne
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Meeks will officiate. Entombment will follow in Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1543 Anderson Highway, Hartwell, Ga. 30643
