Obituary

Mrs. Laura Tatum Peniston, age 77 of 201 Rabbit Run, Hartwell, Ga., died Thursday, December 7, 2006 at Emory University Hospital.

Born August 25, 1929 in Forsyth Ga.(Monroe County), she was the daughter of the late Wilson Barton Tatum and Augusta Harper Tatum. She attended Wesleyan College in Macon was a homemaker and former receptionist with Coca-Cola Company. Mrs. Peniston was a member of Sharon Presbyterian Church, was a volunteer and charter member of Hart County Hospital Auxillary and was formerly associated with the American Red Cross. She was known for her wit and sense of humor.

She is survived by: husband, Paul E. Peniston of the home, sons, Paul E. "Gene" Peniston, IV and his wife Wendy of Greenville, S.C., and Wilson T. "Bill" Peniston and his wife Christine of Newnan, Ga. Five grandchildren, Tatum Peniston, Anne Peniston, Sydney Peniston, Ariana Peniston and Hannah Penniston also survive.

The body was cremated and the family will hold a memorial service on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home-Hartwell. The family will receive friends at the residence immediately following the service.
