Obituary


Evelyn Lavell Dixon Steadwell age 96, widow of Thomas Edward Steadwell passed away on March 17, 2017 in Hartwell, Georgia.

Lavell was born in Girard, Georgia to the late Fred Charles and Alma Mead Dixon.Having grown up in Sardis, Georgia, she spent her adult life in Savannah, Georgia.She attended Bolen - Draughn Business College, and was retired as bookkeeper for the late Doctor Allan V. Wexler.She was a member of Whitefield Methodist Church in Savannah.She spent her last years in Hartwell near her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and John Hugh Temple of Hartwell, granddaughters and their husbands Katie and Curt Mull of Cumming, Georgia, Sarah and Gerald Kolb of Lexington, South Carolina, great grandchildren Walker and Mason Mull, Grace and Elizabeth Kolb, her sister, Virginia Dixon Cribbs and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Charles Dixon and sisters, Neva Dixon Bishop, and Dorothy Dixon Smith.

There will be a memorial service at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:30 a.m.A private burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers any memorials may be made to Whitefield Methodist Church, 728 East 55th Street, Savannah, Georgia 31405.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
