Lawrence Glen Ertzberger, age 94, of Martin, died Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Clary Center in Toccoa.
Born April 9, 1919, in Martin, he was the owner of Ertzberger Photography Studios and retired from Trogdon Funriture. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was the last member of his immediate family, having been predeceased by his parents: H. E. and Nora (Bruce) Ertzberger; brothers: Ralph Ertzberger, L. Ertzberger, and Lloyd Ertzberger; sister: Hazel Ertzberger; and two infant sisters.
Mr. Ertzberger was a veteran of the US Army, where he served in Europe during World War II. He fought in the Invasion of Sicily, Anzio Beachhead, and Southern France. He was among the first troops to engage in combat in the Battle of the Buldge.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Harvill and Rev. Edward Whitworth officiating. A private burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.
