Mr. Lawrence Hayward "Monty" Montgomery Sr., 78, of Schaefer Street, Bowersville, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at Stephens County Hospital, Toccoa.

Born on June 26, 1938 in Wausaw FL, Mr. Montgomery was the son of the late True Wilcox Montgomery.He was a retired truck driver and a member of the True Life Baptist Church, Canon GA.

Survivors include his wife: Ruth Ann Webster Montgomery; a son: Lawrence Montgomery Jr. of Hartwell; three daughters: Melissa Montgomery of Bowersville, Lori Trugillo and Leslie Crocker both of Brandon FL; two brothers: Kenneth Montgomery of Tulsa OK and Edwin Montgomery of Fayetteville NC; two sisters: Sybil Hamilton of Spring Hill FL and Nellamay Cato of Athens TN; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Wesley Dove officiating.Burial will be in the Memorial Garden of Prayer.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night.The family is at the home.Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to offset Medical and Funeral expenses.
