Lawrence William O'Barr

Mr. Lawrence William O’Barr, 90, of Hartwell, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at his home.

Born on July 10, 1935 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Denver O’Barr and Zelle Bowers O’Barr. Mr. O’Barr was lineman for the Hart EMC for 30 years and retired as a meter tech. He was also a member of the Christ Church of Hartwell, and he was also a former deacon and Sunday School teacher at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Lawrence loved hunting, gardening, and fishing. He was also a US Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife: Helen Wilhite O’Barr; son: Mike O’Barr (Jennifer) of Hartwell; four grandchildren: Leslie Buchanan (Todd), Joseph O’Barr, Nathan Carney, and Eliana Carney; two great-grandchildren: Laci O’Barr and Alisa Buchanan; and one nephew: Wayne Allen.

Mr. O’Barr was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Jill O’Barr Carney; brother: Denver O’Barr Jr; and two sisters: Doris Allen and Sara Crittendon.

It was Mr. O’Barr’s wishes to be cremated and memorial service celebrating his life will be held on June 27, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Christ Church of Hartwell with Rev. Michael Kimberly officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. At other times, the family will be at the home.
