Mr. Lawrence J. Schreller, age 89, died February 20, 2016 at home.

Larry was born January 15, 1927 in Columbus Ohio.He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in WW II at the age of 17.He graduated from the Ohio State University in 1950.Larry was a retired firefighter, having served on the Columbus, Ohio Fire Department for 30 years.A longtime member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hartwell, he was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, was an usher and lector, and also sang with the church choir for many years.He had also volunteered for the AARP Tax Aide program and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alina; his step-daughters, Mary Lendacki and Annette Lendacki; his niece, Kristina Landgraf and his sisters-in-law, Esther Dascenzo and Ruth Schreller; grandchildren Jennifer (Blizzard) Wachob, Lauren (Blizzard) Ricciardone, Mark Blizzard, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Lawrence and his brother, Richard.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Sacred Heart Church, Hartwell or Hart County Meals on Wheels program.
