Laxie Lee (Dutton) Harris, age 79, of Canon, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born August 28, 1941 in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Vilee Lawrence Dutton. Prior to retirement, she worked for Brown Convalescent Center. She was a member of Hannah's Creek Baptist Church in Royston.
She is survived by her husband: William Harris; daughters: Vickie Dickerson (David), Brenda Stowe, Tammy Goodwin (James), Trina Locke (Bobby), and Tiffany Williams (Wesley); grandchildren: Amber, Jonathan, and Dwayne Dickerson, Nona Forrester, Jessica, Jennifer, and Paige Blume, Kayla Shelnutt, Adam and Katlyn Locke, Daniel Williams, and Ashley Smith; great-grandchildren: Ben, Sara, Alexa, Cloie, Belle, Lauren, Dale, Nathaniel, Nevaeh, Vincent, Damion, Dayton, Randy, McKenzie, Bryson, Rita, Dallas and Baby Locke (a girl due December 2020); one great-great-grandchild: Ruby Jack; brothers: Wilbur Dutton (Patricia), Grady Dutton (Martha), and Kendall Dutton; sisters: Tincie Hardy (Dan), Parnie Dickerson (Jimmy), and Sara Francis Driver (Ed); brother-in-law: Bob Harris (Violet); sister-in-law: Sue Herring; and beloved pet dog: Coco.
She was preceded in death by her parents: first husband: John N. Stowe; daughter: Rita Owens; grandchild: Jaxon; great grandchild: Noah; sisters: Sarah Ann Davis, Cathy Hardy and Shirley Dutton; brothers: Jr. Dutton, Larnice Dutton, and Tommy Dutton.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2020 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Dwayne Dickerson and Rev. Ronnie Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Hannah's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. At other times the families will be at their respective homes.
