Lee Edward Childs, 78, of 52 Clyde Circle, Hartwell, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Hartwell Health Care Center, Hartwell.
He was born July 16, 1929, in Hart County, the son of the late Olige and Kathleen Reynolds Childs of Hartwell. He was married to Aldyne Patton Childs who died August 5, 1975.
He was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Company where he worked more than 30 years as a maintenance technician. He was a member of the Toccoa Church of God.
Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law - Terry and Laurie Childs of Hart County, a daughter, Tammy Childs of Easley, SC; two grandchildren – Leigh Childs Phillips and her husband Chad of Bowersville, and Brad and Crystal Childs of Royston; two great-granddaughters, Katie Phillips and MaCaylee Childs; two brothers – Doyt Childs of Lavonia, and Wayne Childs of Maryland; two sisters – Evene Howell of Stone Mountain, and Linda Stanton of Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two infant brothers.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 8, at Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell Chapel, at 4:00 p.m. with the Revs. Terry Addis, Dennis Rafala, and Fred Greenway officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Odyssey HealthCare of Athens, 575 Research Drive, Suite A, Athens, GA 30605, or the charity of one's choice.
