Mr. Lee Ervin Dowell, 88, of 203 Grady School Rd, Canon, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at Hart Care Center.
Born on May 1, 1923 in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late John Dowell and Pairlee Burch Dowell.He was retired from Monroe Automotive, an avid farmer and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his three sons: Billy Dowell of Hartwell, Bobby Dowell and his wife Mary of Canon, and Dennis Dowell and his wife Mary Ann of Canon; two daughters: Nancy Whitaker of Bowersville and Lisa Dowell of Canon; one brother: George Dowell of Royston; Eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.Mr. Dowell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita Saylors Dowell; five brothers: Henry Dowell, Harvey Dowell, Bensen Dowell, Earnest Dowell, and Will Dowell; six sisters: Eula Crowe, Josie Downs, Julie Fountain, Lula Mae Bryant, Beaula McCollum, and Mary Alice Dowell; and one great grandson, Alijah Fleeman.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday.The family is at the home of Bobby and Mary Dowell, 210 Smith Street, Canon, GA.
