Mrs. Alice Leighton Ray Gurley, 79, of 4038 Bowersville Hwy., Bowersville, GA, died Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Hart County Hospital.
Born January 14, 1927 in Hart County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Ray and Susie Adams Ray.She was retired from Monroe Automotive as a machine operator.
She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church for 56 years, Member and Teacher of Mattie Ruth Brown Sunday School Class and of the WMU Anita Roper Circle.
Her survivor include:Husband, Dwain E. Gurley; Son, Edwin Gurley and his wife Pam of Bowersville, GA; Brothers, Charles A. Ray and his wife Molly of Bowersville, GA and Francis Ray and his wife Louise of Bowersville, GA; Grandchild, Jennifer K. Ankerich and her husband Heath; Two step grandchildren, Taran G. Myers and Legh Ann G. Myers and three step great grandchildren also survive.She was preceded in death by parents a daughter, Ann Gurley and a son, David Gurley.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cross Roads Baptist Church.Rev. Ben Coleman and Rev. Connie Mack Bowers will officiate.Burial will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home of Edwin and Pam Gurley.Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to Cross Roads Baptist Church Building Fund, 3636 Lavonia Hwy., Hartwell, GA30643.
