Mrs. Lera Reed Byrum, age 91, of 160 Savannah St. Ext., Hartwell, died Saturday, February 16 at her home.

Born on July 13, 1916 in Hart County GA, she was the daughter of the late Dawson Reed and Florence Maret Reed.She was a homemaker, a member of the Hartwell Alliance Church, Alliance Women and active in her community.

Survivors include four daughters: Jo Ann Evans and her husband Lucius of Hartwell, Lola Lane of Royston, Gail Madden and her husband Herb of Lavonia and Cathy Bentley and her husband Jeff of Carnesville; four sons: Jackie Byrum and his wife Virginia, Harvey Byrum and his wife Martha and George Byrum and his wife Gayle all of Hartwell and Ronald Byrum and his wife Olga of Warner Robbins; two sisters: Claudine Maret of Hartwell and Joyce Suttles of Bowman; a brother: Junior Reed of Martin; twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Byrum was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Jackson Byrum, a grandson: Randy Byrum, a sister: Myrtice Lee and a brother: Guy Reed.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Eddie Simmons, Rev. John Silver and Rev. Noel Cooper officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
