Mr. Lewis Walter Certain, age 77, of Martin, died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his home.
Born August 14, 1933, in Townsville, SC, he was the son of the late Lewis and Rosa Mae Ramey Certain. He was a heavy equipment operator and small engine repairman. He graduated from North Georgia Technical College. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia (Bradley) Certain of the home; children and spouses: Dave & Janice Certain of Hartwell, Kaye & Jerome Humphrey of Martin, Mike & Jimmie Certain of Martin; grandchildren: Cortney & Jason Evans, Brannan & Chad Wicker, Taylor Certain, Joy & Josh Holcomb, Chad Humphrey, Miki Huggins, Jodi & Tyler Davison, Michael & Meredith Certain, and Laura Certain; great grandchildren: Seth & Luke Holcomb, Caitlyn & Ashlyn Wicker, and Cliff Certain; and siblings: James Certain, John Henry Certain, Vasco Certain, Clara Stevenson, and Perry Martin.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings: J.S. "Bo" Certain, Ester Thompson, William Certain, and Ray Martin.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Josh Harvill officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
