Linda Gail Thornton Bennett, age 67, of Lavonia, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born February 25, 1953, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Calvin Thornton and Mary Sue Mauldin. She was a graduate of North Georgia Technical College and worked for more than thirty years as a cosmetologist. Linda was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Brent Burnette.
She is survived by her son: Dr. Jason Burnette; daughter: Cassie Stancill; brothers: George Thornton and James Thornton; and grandchildren: Zach, Brady, Bryce, Jakob, Jackson, and Remi.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery with Rev. Doug Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the church or charity of one's choice.
