Mr. Lonnie Chandler Chitwood Sr., 89, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at his home.

Born on May 25, 1932 in Lavonia GA, he was the son of the late Arvin Little Chitwood and Lula Elizabeth Watkins Chitwood.Mr. Chitwood was retired from Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Co., a member of the Hartwell Church of Christ and was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Survivors include his wife: Jonnie Mae Nichols Chitwood; two daughters: Donna Marie Chitwood Christian (Billy) of Dewy Rose and Rebecca Sue Chitwood Quackenbush (Bob) of Hartwell; a son: Lonnie Chandler Chitwood Jr. (Kathy) of Bowersville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Chitwood was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson: Frank Nicholas Crittendon; two brothers: Frank Chitwood and Virgil Chitwood and five sisters: Ruth Chitwood, Rolvie McCollum, Geraldine Austin, Willie Brown and Eugenia LeCoq.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Hartwell Church of Christ.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie Chandler Chitwood Sr. will be held Saturday, February 5 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the Hartwell Church of Christ with Preacher Billy McVey and Preacher Aubrey Prestridge officiating.Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Church of God Cemetery with Military Honors.

The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
