Obituary

Mrs. Louise Roland Goldsmith, 89, of Rock Springs Rd, Lavonia, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Hart Co. Hospital.

Born on February 27, 1921 in Hart Co. GA, she was the daughter of the late Isham James Roland and Cora Lee Carnes Roland.She was a retired machine operator at Monroe Auto Equipment Company and was a former designer at Diane's Designs for 10 years.She was the oldest member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Bowers & her husband Sammy of Hartwell; a granddaughter, Brenda Vickery & her husband Jeff of Hartwell; a great-grandson, Michael Vickery of Statesboro GA; a brother, Inman J. Roland of Greenwood SC also survives.She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Goldsmith; six sisters, Elsie Richie, L.E. Thrasher, Lois Cathey, Inez Alewine, Idell Goldsmith and Eloise Carnes; three brothers, Howard Roland, William "Bud" Roland and Alton Roland.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 30 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Lee Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday night and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.The family is at the home of Dianne & Sammy Bowers, 1121 Beacon Light Rd, Hartwell.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Larry Haley, 882 Cleveland Mill Rd, Hartwell, GA30643.
