Mrs. Avise Louise (Carter) Lewis, age 80, of Lavonia, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at her home, following an extended illness.
Born November 20, 1933, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late: Tommy & Mamie (Floyd) Carter. She worked for Carwood and retired from Hartwell Company. She was a member of Bowersville Church of God.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Boyd Junior Lewis; son: Tony Lewis; daughters-in-law: Jamie C. Lewis & Vickie Brady; and siblings: Sallie Mae Reed, Lloyd Carter, Bobby Carter, Thomas Carter, Fred Carter, Ned Carter.
She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law: Ronnie & Karen Lewis, Talmadge & Faye Lewis and Freddie & Betty Lewis: brother: Sonny Carter; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Revs. Gettis Allen, Roger Hardy & Carl Beckham officiating. Burial will follow in Bowersville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home.
